Poem for a friend

11 Jan

One of my friends from highschool is leaving for basic training on Wednesday.  This poem is dedicated to him.

Leavin’ all that you called home  (echo throughout)

For a world you’ve barely known

Headin’ for basic at Fort Sill

Somethin’ that never feels real until:

Left Right (Left Right)

Enter time of transformation

Working through inner foundations

Though the process may seem long

We’re talking more than Army strong

Left Right  (Left Right)

Left Right (fades away)

God bless you, Maverick.
