Rain Pain

14 Aug

Hear it darkly, sweetly rolling?

Gently puncturing the silence

Then the thunder, heavy tolling,

Now confusing what once made sense.

Hear it opening, awakening?

Rumblings and thoughts within

Sudden impulses like lightning

Sudden questions make a din:

Should I dance in the rain,

Drops falling on my face,

Dripping down my smile,

Dallying on my laughter?

Was I really just a child

When last in Rain I did confide?

But thunder rolling, I was frightened

And I darted safe Inside.

Has it been months, or maybe years?

The Rain is silent from Inside.

I hear nothing of the watering,

Reviving that which almost died.

But I long to break the Silence,

Should I throw the door back wide?

Gaze once again upon the heavens,

Do I dare to tread Outside?
